The WWDC event in 2023 could see big ticket announcements from Apple, including software updates, apps, and the much-anticipated mixed reality headsets. Here are some key expectations from the event.

Mixed reality headsets

Apple is expected to finally unveil its much-rumored mixed reality headset at the WWDC 2023. Immense speculation surrounds the “Reality Pro” as the tech conclave approaches. According to a Bloomberg report, the device, priced at $3,000 (₹2.48 lakh), aims to compete with Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, which dominates the virtual reality industry.

The report states that Apple has dedicated over seven years to this project. The “Reality Pro” headsets’ standout features are eye and hand-tracking capabilities. Additionally, they offer FaceTime-based videoconferencing, meeting rooms, and immersive content. The AR and VR headset will also serve as an external display for connected Macs and replicate various features of iPhones and iPads.

MacBook Air

The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to reveal a larger 15-inch option for the MacBook Air. According to The Verge, this device is anticipated to feature the in-house M2 chip, similar to the models launched last year. Bloomberg also suggests that the 15-inch MacBook Air may have a resolution of 3024×1964, matching that of the 14-inch Pro model.

iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 launch

Apple fans eagerly await the annual announcements for iOS software updates. This year’s WWDC is expected to bring updates to iOS, MacOS, iPadOS, and more. According to a Bloomberg report, the conference might feature the launch of the highly anticipated iOS 17. This updated operating system is speculated to introduce various features, including one that transforms the locked screen into a smart display. Additionally, The Verge reported that iOS 17 may include a Personal Voice tool that enables users to create a “synthetic voice” with just 15 minutes of training.

While there is not much information available about MacOS 14 and tvOS 17, it is anticipated that the company will announce updates for Stage Manager in iPadOS 17. Furthermore, there are rumors suggesting that Apple will deliver a major update to watchOS.
