These capabilities will be accessible to Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus subscribers, Enterprise Standard and Plus subscribers, and users with Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on. Furthermore, Google One AI Premium subscribers will also gain access to these functionalities.
Until now, the Gemini side panel in Sheets was able to summarise spreadsheets and generate tables. These tasks were accomplished by converting prompts into formulas and executing them on the sheet. However, since formulas are restricted in scope, users are limited to adding one layer to analyse the spreadsheet data.
Nevertheless, Gemini is now acquiring enhanced data analysis and visualisation features. The AI assistant for the platform can now transform user inquiries into Python code and execute them. In this manner, the chatbot can analyse the findings to conduct a multi-layered analysis.
Google clarified that Gemini will be able to respond to inquiries regarding the data and offer deeper insights about the spreadsheet. Users can inquire of the AI about contextual trends, patterns, and correlations among disparate variables in the data. Additionally, Gemini will also have the capability to produce charts to assist users in easily visualising the information. These charts may also be incorporated as static images over cells in the spreadsheet.
