Gmail Q&A Gemini-Powered AI Feature Rolled Out for Android

Gmail for Android is getting a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature that lets users search their inboxes. On Thursday, Google introduced a Gemini feature called Gmail QandA to its Workspace users. With this, users can ask Gemini in Gmail to find specific information from emails in their inbox, which AI can detect. This feature was previously available in the web version of Gmail, but now it is also available in the Android app. The tech boss said the feature will also come to iOS.

Gmail QandA feature launches for Android
Google announced the feature in a blog post, saying it will be available in the Gemini widget at the top right of the Gmail app. However, users must sign in to their Google workspace account to access it. In addition to searching the inbox, users can also use this feature to view unread messages, view messages from a specific sender, or summarize emails. .

To access this feature, users can click on the black Gemini star at the top right of the app. For example, users can click on “abbreviation of this email” in an email thread. Users can ask Gmail QandA questions like “How much did it cost to attend the last trade show?” to ask A and Gemini will find it by searching the inbox.

In the future, the AI function will also find information about files and documents stored in Google Drive, the company said. When the feature was released, the blog post said it could take up to 15 days for the feature to reach all Workspace users. Specifically, Workspace users must subscribe to one of the following add-ons, including Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium, Gemini-Powered AI.

Google also separated the Gemini tools for Google Keep and Google Tasks. These are also available to Workspace users, allowing Pixel 9 smartphone owners to directly access both apps within the Gemini app using text messages.
