Instagram Reportedly Testing Feature to Allow Users to View Story Highlights From a Week Ago

Instagram might soon enable users to revisit older stories from accounts they follow that they missed within the initial 24 hours. A recent report indicated that the Meta-owned social media platform is experimenting with a feature that permits users to access Story Highlights from mutual followers for one week after they have been shared. This feature is said to be applicable only to stories that the original creator has included in Highlights. Reports suggest that Meta is currently testing this feature with a limited group of individuals.

Instagram Testing New Story Highlights Viewing Feature

Per a report from TechCrunch, Instagram has begun displaying previously unseen Story Highlights from mutual followers to some users. A spokesperson from Meta has verified the testing of this new Story viewing functionality. It was reportedly first noticed by social media analyst Ahmed Ghanem.

With this functionality, Instagram users will have the opportunity to see unseen Story Highlights from the previous week. It shows up at the end of the Story tray, located at the top of the feed. Access to the older Story Highlights can only be granted after viewing the remaining stories in your feed. If your feed is overflowing with stories from your followed accounts and you don’t reach the end of the current Story updates, you may not get the chance to see the older Story Highlights.

Another important aspect of this feature is that it solely encompasses Story Highlights that the original creator has saved to their profiles as a “Highlight. ” Users will be unable to view regular older stories that vanish after 24 hours. This is anticipated to reduce the likelihood of users missing updates from their social circles amid an increase in sponsored posts and various online content.

The feature is currently under testing with a small user group. It will soon be rolled out to all Instagram users worldwide. The Meta-owned social networking platform recently discreetly introduced a feature that allows Instagram users to schedule direct messages. Users can schedule text-only messages via DMs, and it is accessible for both iOS and Android users.
