Appparently, Twitter blocks links to Threads and those links are being removed from the search results page. Recent achievements include Threads surpassing ChatGPT’s generative AI-based chatbot to become the app with the quickest downloads of over 100 million.
Serious Claims
Andy Baio, a Threads app user, initially drew attention to the issue. However, Baio discovered that a search using the keyword “url:threads.net” yielded no results, despite the expectation that all tweets with links to Threads.net websites should have been retrievable.
In addition, other Twitter users highlighted that they were unable to find tweets containing Threads links, suggesting that Twitter blocks links to Threads.
Nevertheless, some users have already found a way to bypass Twitter’s new limitations. They can utilize the search function on the microblogging platform and enter “url:Threads net” in the search box to find posts with Threads links.
Twitter’s Traffic Dropped
Reuters recently reported that threads was launched on 6 July 2023, with the aim of becoming “the public conversation app with 1 billion people on it”. Data from web analytics firm Similarweb shows that Twitter’s web traffic has dropped by 11 per cent since the launch of Threads compared to the same time last year.
