Adobe Releases AI-Powered Generate Video in Public Beta, Redesigns Firefly Web App

Adobe announced the public beta release of its Generate Video tool on Wednesday, now accessible to all users. This artificial intelligence (AI) video creation tool utilizes the company’s Firefly Video Model and was initially previewed in September 2024. The tech giant based in San Jose also revamped the Firefly web app, with the new design showcasing all the various generative AI tools driven by Firefly models, which can be utilized directly from the platform. Furthermore, Adobe introduced two new Firefly subscription options.

Adobe Releases Generate Video in Beta

Generate Video represents the company’s first AI-driven comprehensive video generation tool. It accommodates both text prompts and images as inputs, and can produce 1080p resolution videos at 24 frames per second. In a newsroom announcement, Adobe stated that the tool provides detailed control to users by enabling them to dictate camera angles, motion, shooting distances, art styles, and other cinematography elements. Currently, it can generate videos that are five seconds in duration.

Users will also be capable of making technically sophisticated requests such as securing the first and last frames of a shot for continuity, maintaining consistent colors and character details, among other features. Adobe mentioned that a lower-resolution ideation model and a 4K model for production purposes will be added soon. As of now, companies including PepsiCo, Stagwell, and Dentsu are employing Generate Video for real-world applications.

The Firefly web app, introduced in 2023, has now undergone a redesign. The platform serves as a center for Adobe’s generative AI tools, and the updated user interface simplifies the process of locating various tools more effectively than before. Simultaneously, the tech giant has integrated the platform with Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and others. Adobe has asserted that Firefly AI models are trained on datasets derived from the public domain and licensed content, thus making it “IP-friendly” and suitable for commercial use.

Additionally, the tech giant has launched two other tools — Scene to Image and Translate Audio/Translate Video — on the Firefly platform. In contrast to Generate Video, these tools are not free to access. The former produces “professional-quality” images based on 3D sketches and reference shapes, and empowers users to adjust the angles and perspectives of the 3D images to achieve the desired outcome. The latter enables users to convert audio files and audio channels in videos into over 20 different languages. Adobe claims the tool will maintain the original voice of the speaker.

Moreover, the company has rolled out two new Firefly subscription options. Firefly Standard is available for $9. 99 a month and provides 2,000 video and audio credits, as well as the capacity for up to 20 video generations. The Firefly Pro subscription includes 7,000 credits and permits up to 70 video generations for $29. 99 a month.
Adobe is introducing two new subscription plans for Firefly that offer credits usable for Adobe’s Firefly models. The Firefly Standard plan begins at $9. 99 (approximately Rs. 870) each month for 2,000 video/audio credits and allows for up to 20 five-second 1080p video creations. The more expensive Firefly Pro plan starts at $29. 99 (around Rs. 2,600) for 7,000 credits and offers up to 70 five-second 1080p video creations. An important benefit is that both plans come with unlimited access to Firefly imaging and vector capabilities.
