Google Previews Live Video and Screen-Sharing Features With Gemini Live at MWC 2025

Google is highlighting two new Gemini Live features at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The Mountain View-based technology firm will also be introducing the Live Video and screen-sharing features to paying subscribers later this month. Live Video will enable users to engage in a video call while interacting with the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot within the Gemini Live interface. Conversely, the screen-sharing feature will allow users to share their screen with Gemini, enabling the AI to respond to questions based on what it observes.

Google Is Highlighting Two New Gemini Features at MWC 2025

In a blog entry, the tech giant mentioned that it is conducting interactive demonstrations for the new Gemini features throughout the MWC 2025. In addition to these, attendees can also explore other Gemini Live features, as well as the language translation capabilities of Circle to Search. Among the two new Gemini features, the first one is Live Videos. This was introduced at Google I/O 2024 and is designed by DeepMind, the company’s AI division, as part of Project Astra. Live Videos can be utilized within Gemini Live, a real-time AI-driven two-way voice communication feature.

With this feature, users can direct Gemini a video feed from their device’s camera, allowing the AI to interpret the visual data in real-time and respond to related inquiries. The company also released a video on YouTube demonstrating the Live Video feature. In the video, a user presents Gemini with their pottery collection and inquires about which color they should select for their next vase. The color options were laid out on the table.

Gemini was capable of assessing the colors of the pots and the available color options to recommend a choice that would enhance the rest of the collection nearly instantly. Importantly, once the feature is launched, eligible users will notice a new video icon in the Gemini Live interface to access the feature. The second feature is screen-sharing with Gemini. At present, the Gemini AI assistant includes an “Ask about screen” button located above the text field. Pressing this button captures a screenshot that users can share with the AI and pose questions concerning the picture. The new feature introduces another “Share screen with Live” button.

Pressing this will promptly allow the AI to record the screen, enabling users to ask questions about what they see in real-time. Gemini can not only respond to inquiries about the current screen but can also track the user’s actions as they navigate from one page to another or from one app to another. Besides addressing general questions, the feature can also assist users in navigating to specific settings or locating a webpage.
