X Premium+ Subscription Price Reportedly Hiked Hours After Grok 3 AI Model Launch

X (previously Twitter) has allegedly increased the costs of its X Premium+ subscription — the top subscription level on the microblogging site. The cost of Premium+ on X has now been elevated in the United States. According to a report, the price rise was implemented just hours after Elon Musk’s xAI launched the Grok 3 family of artificial intelligence (AI) models. Subscribers will essentially pay double the price of the previous subscription fee. The price increase applies only to the highest subscription level, while the Basic and Premium tiers are still being offered at the same price. Importantly, the platform has also introduced another subscription option called Super Grok.

X Premium+ Subscription Adjusted Pricing

As per a TechCrunch report, X has raised the price for the Premium+ subscription plan to nearly $50 (approximately Rs. 4,350) monthly in the US, which is double the former $22 (around Rs. 1,900) per month. The yearly rate is also reportedly increased to $350 (about Rs. 30,400).

The publication notes that the updated prices were listed on the social media platform’s support page in the US, but it adds that there are several discrepancies in the pricing. While examining the new pricing, the publication’s reporters encountered a monthly price of $39. 83 (approximately Rs. 3,460) or $477. 95 (about Rs. 41,560) for a yearly plan. Nonetheless, the final check-out screen was charging $395 (around Rs. 34,350). When Gadgets 360 team members reviewed the support page, the pricing of X Premium+ was still displayed as $22 monthly.

If accurate, this would signify the second price increase for this particular tier in the past three months. In December 2024, the platform elevated the Premium+ subscription plan’s cost from $16 (about Rs. 1,400) per month to $22 per month. This adjustment was also mirrored in India, where the subscription fee rose from Rs. 1,300 per month or Rs. 13,600 annually to Rs. 1,525 monthly or Rs. 18,300 per year.

It is possible that the company is performing A/B testing with the pricing across various channels to assess consumer responses. However, thus far, the pricing in India has not been modified, and they are presently displayed at the same elevated prices introduced last December.

Significantly, the reported price increase was noticed just hours after the Grok 3 AI models were released. The new models include features such as chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, DeepSearch, and voice mode.
