YouTube Will Soon Let You Create Short Videos Out Of Others’ Comments

25th July 2023

Over the past two years, YouTube’s TikTok and Instagram Reels counterpart, Shorts have expanded in both popularity and functionality. With features like a watermark for shared shorts, the ability to use audio from other Shorts videos, and much more it has become a popular content creation medium on YouTube. And now it seems like a new feature might make its entry soon. Keep reading to learn more about it.

Turn YouTube Shorts Comments Into YouTube Shorts

YouTube Team’s Support Page mentioned an experimental feature being tested – creating short videos from comments on other short videos. Users can use this feature by taking a comment from a YouTube Shorts video and making a new Shorts video. YouTube calls it “viewer-created Shorts featuring comments.”

Currently, only a few Android and iOS users have access. Creators may not like it as they can’t control which comments are used or get notified when new videos are made. To avoid this, they can disable comments on their videos.

If you make a video from a Shorts comment, it’ll be on your channel’s homepage and Shorts section, but reach and views will be limited to testers on Android and iOS.

No word on a public rollout or if it’ll be implemented. We’re curious about its functionality if it goes public. Share your thoughts on this feature. Would you create videos from your favorite creators’ comments?
