X Said to Be Testing a Free Version of Grok AI for Users With Updated Logo

It has been reported by various users that X (formerly known as Twitter) is currently conducting tests on a complimentary version of the platform’s integrated artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot named Grok. On Sunday, certain users asserted that they had obtained access to Grok without being registered as paying subscribers on platform X. Certain restrictions apply to the free tier of the chatbot according to users, and its availability is reportedly limited to specific regions. Significantly, the development occurs merely one week subsequent to xAI’s launch of the Grok API, along with the announcement of various incentives intended to encourage developers to utilize it.

X is reportedly testing a complimentary version of Grok.
Multiple users of platform X, such as application researchers and artificial intelligence enthusiasts, have shared on the platform the information that the social media company is currently experimenting with a complimentary version of the chatbot. This initiative enables individuals who have not acquired the X Premium subscription to utilize the service. Significantly, Grok was launched in November 2023 and has thus far been exclusively available to subscribers of the platform.

In a report released by TechCrunch, it was confirmed that X is currently conducting trials on the free version of Grok in New Zealand. It is noted that access to the chatbot may be extended to additional regions as well. The staff members of Gadgets 360 were unable to confirm the presence of the test. The AI bot does not seem to be accessible in India. In addition to the complimentary edition, it has been reported that Grok is in the process of acquiring a new logo. It has been indicated that the existing “Grok” word logo will be substituted with a socket-shaped logo.

One of the users of X provided a comprehensive account of various restrictions associated with the complimentary version. As per the response provided to a different comment, Grok will be accessible exclusively to accounts that have been in existence for a minimum of seven days and are associated with a verified phone number.

It is currently stipulated that non-subscribers receive 10 Grok 2 questions every two hours, as well as 20 Grok 2 mini questions within the same timeframe. Moreover, the complimentary level of the chatbot is capable of analyzing a maximum of three images on a daily basis.

Independently, xAI, the enterprise responsible for Grok AI, introduced a Grok API last week. The company further disclosed a range of incentives targeted at developers to encourage the exploration of the API, including complimentary credits valued at $25 (approximately Rs). Two thousand one hundred dollars per month will be paid until the conclusion of the year. Furthermore, developers who have previously acquired prepaid credits for the API were granted complimentary credits equivalent to the initial purchase on a monthly basis until the conclusion of 2024.
